Nairobi
Trio Saturday
February 27 2010
gates opened at 3pm Nairobi Trio (that's
often a quartet!) need no introduction to New Zealanders. This
wonderful jazz band has been together for 20 years and they have built up a huge
following. We are so happy to have had them here at Tara Lodge again. Richard's
violin playing completely wow-ed the audience, and the love of their music really
sets this group apart. Check
them out on ww.nairobitrio.co.nz

| | Kaipara
Music Festival at Tara Lodge Saturday
9 January 2010
The
Kaipara Music Festival at Tara Lodge wass based on a winning formula - a musical
feast of performers to entertain, while you relax with a picnic feast of goodies.
The line-up of
musicians promises a wide variety of styles - something to appeal to everyone. | | The
Joe Carbery Swingtet with Carol Power, are well-known in the Kaipara for their
classy, traditional jazz. The group features Joe Carbery on saxophone, Julian
Russell on piano, together with the sassy vocals of Carol Power. Local
rising-star, Karam David, and his band 'Hard to Handle' who did
well in the Northland Rock Quest Regional Finals, will be playing country rock.
Karam is a talented young songwriter and entertainer and some of his own compositions
are included in his set list.
| The
Maura Flower Trio plays easy-listening jazz standards, including Latin rhythms.
Local drum teacher, Laurie Walker, is featured on congas, with Peter
Flower on guitar. Maura Flower is the vocalist and occasional flautist.
The Black
Swamp Project is an upcoming local band - based on Black Swamp Road in Mangawhai.
They cover toe-tapping bluegrass music and the group's line-up includes vocals,
fiddle, guitars, bass, mandolin, banjo and sometimes cello. Whiskey
Business is another new group in the Kaipara playing a range of country, bluegrass
and Cajun music. The group of five includes piano accordians, guitars, mandolin,
harmonica, flute, and featuring vocal harmonies.
| The
Black Swamp Project
| Other
young rising-stars will feature between the main acts. Lochiel Wines
will be available for purchase at the festival. Tara Lodge is well-known
for hosting fabulous entertainment and has plenty of parking available.
